Likewise, getting the name of the company or hiring manager’s name wrong also serves as a death sentence for your resume. Why should someone hire you when there are plenty of people with error-free resumes applying for the job?

Take a good look at your resume and hunt down any spelling, grammar or information errors. Be sure to ask a trusted friend or family member to look for these types of errors, as well. Remember to look for errors with verb tense and homophone usage. You don’t want to miss out on a job opportunity because you stated, “there” when you should have used “they’re.”
