Professional Resume Help For Interviewees: Be Prepared
If you’ve already purchased some professional resume help and received a summons for your first interview, you might be feeling a bit nervous about this all-important meeting. Rather than fret about this event, relax and follow our helpful list of what to accomplish the night before your interview.
1. Choose Your Outfit
Aside from using us for some professional resume help, you definitely need to pick out an appropriate professional outfit for your interview. Pull out all of the components of your outfit and set them out the night before, ironing anything that is wrinkle. Don’t wait until the morning to complete this task. Your goal should be to make the morning run as smoothly as possible, so you don’t want to be scrambling around looking for a shirt or belt or the right shoes. If you tend to change your mind frequently about your daily wear, consider prepping two or three outfits and setting them all out.
2. Pack Your Bags
There are several essential items you will need to bring along on your interview, packed neatly into a professional tote or briefcase. In addition to copies of your resume, for which you no doubt received our expert professional resume help, pack some business cards, pens & pencils and a paper tablet for taking notes. Hiring managers and hiring teams appreciate it when interviewees take a few notes during an interview, and jotting down some information can be helpful later when you are reviewing what occurred during the interview. Also, it is wise to bring a short list of questions that you would like ask the hiring managers, who typically will ask if you have any questions near the end of an interview. It also can be wise to bring a list of references along, if these are not already listed on your resume.
3. Rehearse Your Answers
Rehearsing what you will say during an interview can alleviate your nervousness. Research typical interview questions and practice your answers several times as well as how you will sit and practice making eye contact. If possible, have a friend or family member help you out.
4. Map It Out
Unless you are very familiar with the interview site, you’ll need to map out exactly where the company is located. If you are driving, be sure that you discover the location of parking near the building. If you are using public transportation, research the times and drop-off locations carefully. Be sure to leave plenty of extra time to arrive at your destination. Showing up even one or two minutes late to an interview does not make a good impression, and even if you arrive way too early, it’s better to have to kill time than to rush in late and flustered. Also, be sure to double check the interview time, just in case.
5. Sound The Alarms
For your peace of mind, set multiple alarms to ensure that you will wake up on time. If you are using the alarm clock on your phone, ensure that your phone has plenty of power left and that the volume is loud enough to wake you up in the morning. You can even ask a dependable friend to give you a wake-up call, as a failsafe.
6. Relax & Head To Bed
Getting a good night’s sleep can have a hugely positive effect on your mental well-being, so make it a point to get to bed early the night before a job interview. If you are feeling nervous, put on some soft music and enjoy a cup of decaffeinated tea before you retire. Keep the TV off and avoid browsing the internet and using electronic devices, as this has been shown to trigger insomnia, especially if one is already a bit tense.
